Description

Universal Audio Volt 2 Max – 10-in/4-out 32-bit/192 kHz USB Audio Interface The Universal Audio Volt 2 Max is a compact USB audio interface designed for musicians, producers, vocalists, and content creators who want polished, professional sound right from the recording stage. It offers 32-bit/192 kHz audio conversion, two microphone preamps with 60 dB of gain, three tone-shaping modes, and onboard Max Processing dynamics. With optical ADAT/S/PDIF input, MIDI, two headphone outputs, loopback, and a built-in talkback microphone, it can become the centerpiece of both home and mobile recording studios. USB bus power allows operation without an additional power supply in typical setups, while the full-color Smart Display, Auto-Gain, and Clip Protection help you quickly achieve reliable recording levels.

Product Features 10-input / 4-output USB audio interface. 32-bit audio conversion with sample rates up to 192 kHz. Two microphone preamps with up to 60 dB of gain. Three Tone Shaping modes: Warmth, Focus, and Shine. Max Processing with six compression presets for vocals, guitar, and bass. More than 18 tonal combinations using Tone Shaping and Max Processing. Two mic/line inputs and two front-panel Hi-Z instrument inputs. Optical ADAT or S/PDIF input for digital studio expansion. MIDI In/Out for connecting synthesizers, keyboards, and controllers. Two headphone outputs with one shared cue mix. Full-color Smart Display for clear level and gain-reduction monitoring. Auto-Gain and Clip Protection for easier and safer recording-level setup. Built-in talkback microphone and loopback functionality. Independently switchable +48 V phantom power for each microphone channel. Built-in USB hub for peripheral devices. USB bus power and compatibility with computers and mobile devices.

Analog Recording Character with Intelligent Level Control One of the key features is the Tone Shaping preamps. Instead of simply providing clean signal amplification, they let you choose between three harmonic characters: Warmth, Focus, and Shine. These modes make it easy to give vocals and instruments tones inspired by classic tube, solid-state, and British Class-A circuits. This means you can experiment with the character of your recordings before you even start mixing.

Another important feature is Max Processing, which provides real-time onboard compression. Six presets are designed for sources such as vocals, guitar, and bass, with tonal characteristics based in part on classic studio designs such as the 1176 and LA-2A. Combining the three preamp modes with six dynamics settings gives you more than 18 tonal combinations. It is a convenient solution when you want to find an inspiring sound quickly without configuring a complicated chain of processors.

The full-color Smart Display shows essential parameters, input levels, and gain reduction. Auto-Gain helps automatically determine an appropriate recording level, while Clip Protection reacts to unexpected signal peaks. In practice, this means you can spend less time watching meters and more time concentrating on your performance.

Product Applications The interface is well suited to home and project studios for recording vocals, guitars, bass, synthesizers, and other instruments. Two analog inputs allow you to record two sources simultaneously, while independently switchable +48 V phantom power supports condenser microphones. The Hi-Z inputs make it easy to connect a guitar or bass directly.

The possibilities extend beyond the two analog inputs. The optical port supports ADAT, allowing you to add up to eight digital channels from a compatible preamp at 44.1 or 48 kHz. Alternatively, the optical input can operate in S/PDIF format. MIDI In/Out allows hardware synthesizers, drum machines, controllers, and other MIDI equipment to become part of your recording setup.

Loopback makes the interface useful for podcasting, livestreaming, and video production by allowing you to combine live inputs with audio played by your computer. The built-in talkback microphone simplifies communication with performers, while two headphone outputs make collaborative recording sessions more convenient.
