Description
Behringer 2600 BLUE MARVIN – Limited Edition Analog Semi-Modular Synthesizer The 1970s were the period when analog synthesizers began to shape the face of electronic music. In 1971, Alan R. Pearlman and Dennis Colin decided to create a more portable version of the massive modular ARP 2500, aimed directly at musicians. Thus, the ARP 2600 was born – a semi-modular synthesizer that quickly gained recognition from artists such as Edgar Winter, Pete Townshend, Herbie Hancock, and Jean-Michel Jarre. Shortly after the release of the first ARP 2600 units, ARP introduced a light blue version of the model, named "Blue Marvin" in honor of the company's financial director, Marvin Cohen. The Behringer 2600 BLUE MARVIN is a limited edition of this iconic instrument, combining authentic ARP 2600 circuits with modern elements and a distinctive, eye-catching finish. Product Features Three VCO oscillators with frequency modulation (FM) inputs provide a vast range of timbres – from classic square and triangle waves to sawtooth and sine waves. Each VCO can also function as a low-frequency oscillator (LFO), further increasing synthesis flexibility. The multi-mode VCF filter serves simultaneously as an oscillator mixer and offers resonance control along with switching between filtering modes. The mechanical spring reverb is a unique feature of the BLUE MARVIN version – it adds depth, space, and scale to the sound without the need for external equipment. The instrument offers 93 patch points (inputs and outputs), allowing for complete reconfiguration of the signal path. It also features 2 dedicated low-frequency LFOs with square and sine wave outputs, a variable-color noise generator, a ring modulator, a delay processor, a sample & hold unit, a Schmitt trigger, and an envelope follower. The ADSR and AR envelope generators, equipped with a Time Factor switch (x2, x1, x0.5), enable precise shaping of sound dynamics. The VCA section features differential inputs for linear and exponential characteristics, accepting control voltage signals via 3.5 mm jacks. The panel features 78 sliders and buttons arranged in an intuitive layout. The BLUE MARVIN version is further distinguished by hand-selected components, single-color LEDs on each slider, and its characteristic lacquered finish. Professional Capabilities for Your Creativity The Behringer 2600 BLUE MARVIN is an instrument designed for musicians and producers who wish to recreate the legendary analog magic of the 70s and 80s or create entirely new, original sounds. The purely analog signal path, based on authentic ARP 2600 circuits with matched transistors and JFETs, guarantees a deep, warm, and organic sound character. The three VCO oscillators, with the ability to switch between square, triangle, sawtooth, sine, and pulse waveforms, open up countless timbral possibilities. The multi-mode VCF filter with resonance control allows for precise sculpting of the sound spectrum – from soft, delicate filtering to aggressive, buzzy over-filtering. The semi-modular architecture means you can start playing immediately without patch cables, while still having access to 93 patch points for complete instrument reconfiguration. The envelope generator with the Time Factor switch enables the creation of short, percussive notes or long, atmospheric soundscapes. The ring modulator, sample & hold, and Schmitt trigger open the door to experimental synthesis, while the mechanical spring reverb adds space and monumental character to compositions. With 78 sliders and buttons, every parameter is at your fingertips – no menus, no digital screens, just pure analog interaction. Applications Reproducing classic sounds from 70s and 80s progressive rock, wave, and synth-pop music Creating thick, powerful bass lines and distinctive synthesizer leads Generating expansive, atmospheric soundscapes using the spring reverb Sound design in a semi-modular technique using 93 patch points Production of electronic, experimental, and avant-garde music Completing home and professional studios with an instrument featuring authentic analog character Detailed Technical Specifications Type: Analog semi-modular synthesizer Format: 8U rack-mount Oscillators: 3 × VCO with FM inputs Filter: Multi-mode VCF with resonance control Reverb: Mechanical spring reverb Patch points: 93 inputs and outputs Control elements: 78 sliders and buttons Low-frequency oscillators: 2 × LFO with square and sine wave outputs Envelope generators: ADSR and AR with Time Factor switch (x2, x1, x0.5) VCA: Differential inputs for linear and exponential characteristics (3.5 mm jacks) Waveforms: Square, triangle, sawtooth, sine, pulse Modules: Ring modulator, delay processor, sample & hold, Schmitt trigger, envelope follower, variable-color noise generator Dimensions: approx. 62 × 45.7 × 19.3 cm (24.45 × 18 × 7.6 inches) Materials and Construction The Behringer 2600 BLUE MARVIN stands out with its solid metal construction and ...
