Description
t conditioner for all oil and alkyd-based ts Penetrating rust inhibitor - stabilises corroded metal surfaces Improves t flow and extends wet edge for longer Replaces thinners without damaging t quality Up to 18m² coverage per litre Up to 25% better coverage uniformity per coat Heat resistant to +175°C when fully cured Suitable for metal, wood, galvanised steel, aluminium, and zinc Colourless, transparent matt finish - does not alter topcoat colour Apply by brush, roller, or spray - A+ low VOC rating Owatrol Oil - t Conditioner and Penetrating Rust Inhibitor for Metal and Wood A t conditioner that does two jobs at once: Owatrol Oil works as both a t conditioner for oil and alkyd-based ts and as a penetrating rust inhibitor for metal surfaces. Mix it directly into your topcoat, undercoat, or primer - at ratios of 5-20% for topcoats, up to 30% for undercoats, and up to 50% for primers - to improve flow, extend the wet edge, and reduce brush and roller marks without affecting drying times or the appearance of the finished coat. Penetrates rust and stabilises metal: Applied neat to rusted surfaces, Owatrol Oil penetrates down to the sound metal, drives out moisture and air, and leaves a bonding film that stops further rusting. It is suitable for use on galvanised steel, aluminium, zinc, and heavily corroded ironwork such as railings, gates, and window frames. Once fully cured, the dry film resists heat up to +175°C. Improves coverage and adhesion on wood: Owatrol Oil deeply penetrates aged or porous timber, sealing the surface and improving adhesion of the finish coat. It can prevent peeling on exterior woodwork and helps protect metal fittings set into timber surfaces, such as hinges and fixings on gates or window frames. Coverage is up to 18m² per litre depending on surface porosity. Unlike t thinners, it protects your t: Thinners reduce t quality and can alter sheen and drying behaviour. Owatrol Oil replaces thinners as a workability aid while maintaining the inherent quality of the t. It is colourless with a transparent matt finish, so it does not affect the colour or appearance of the topcoat. For water-based ts, use Floetrol (Easy Flow) instead - Owatrol Oil is formulated exclusively for oil and alkyd-based systems. Key Features Penetrating rust inhibitor - penetrates to sound metal, drives out moisture and air, and stabilises corroded surfaces. t conditioner for alkyd ts - improves flow and workability without damaging t quality or altering drying times. Extends wet edge - maintains workable wet edge for longer, reducing lap marks on large surfaces. Replaces thinners - improves viscosity and brushability without the damaging effects of conventional t thinners. Up to 25% better coverage - improves uniformity and coverage of each coat when mixed into the t. Heat resistant to +175°C - fully cured dry film withstands high temperatures, suitable for radiators and pipework. Multi-surface use - suitable for galvanised steel, aluminium, zinc, iron, and timber surfaces. Colourless finish - transparent matt result does not affect the colour or sheen of the topcoat. Low VOC - carries A+ VOC emission classification. Flexible application - apply by brush, roller, or spray between +5°C and +35°C.
