Daybe belongs to a new generation of daybeds designed to balance function and practicality with wellbeing and style. By day it holds its shape as a clean, upholstered sofa on a light steel frame, and by night the backrest detaches and slides down to form a proper bed, no springs, no coils, no mechanism to wrestle with.
Norwegian design duo Morten & Jonas, based in Bergen, drew Daybe for rooms that need to do more than one job, a living room by day and a guest bed by night. The seat and backrest sit on a plywood base with cold foam filling, upholstered in Northern’s Autumn textile, while the black steel legs (RAL 9005) keep the whole piece feeling light. Daybe comes with or without armrests: the armrest version extends black metal strips behind the sofa for a more enclosed silhouette, while the version without armrests keeps the lines open and simple.
