Originally named Charles-Edouard Jeanneret, the renowned architect Le Corbusier (1887-1965) chose his well-known pseudonym in 1920 after sharing his architectural concepts in the publication L'Esprit Nouveau. During the 1920s, while dedicating significant time to painting and writing, he designed a select number of buildings that propelled him to a leading position in modern architecture.
