Finnish architect Alvar Aalto (1898-1976) was heavily inspired by Finland’s natural scenery and its cultural positioning within Europe. Initially, he crafted neoclassical buildings, but eventually, he embraced Functionalism. This shift led him to favor organic forms in his work, utilizing materials like brick and wood instead of the more traditional plaster and steel.
