While driving home one evening, Gabe catches sight of a familiar little girl's face in the back window of the car ahead. She mouths a single word: 'Daddy'. This is the last glimpse he has of his five-year-old daughter, Izzy. The authorities conclude she's no longer alive. However, three years on, Gabe remains determined, tirelessly scouring the roads in pursuit of the vehicle that took Izzy, clinging to the hope of finding her. Meanwhile, Fran and her daughter, Alice, are not looking for someone—they are on the run, constantly staying one step ahead of those intent on causing them harm.
